Can you think like Rodin?

Paris, 19 May 2025

Spoiler alert: No, you can't. But you can still learn from him.

Hi Friend, my name is András and I help schools and education businesses work smarter, calmer, and with greater impact.

It's Rodin thinking.

I spent Sunday morning visiting Rodin's house on the outskirts of Paris – a much calmer experience than the ever-popular and much more well-known museum. So add it to your list of you're next around...

The sun was out, and it was the perfect setting to experience what a summer's day for the man himself would've been like. Apparently, he had a habit of placing his collection of ancient sculptures out in the sun on these days and would spend hours on end studying, admiring and talking with them.

Now, who wouldn't want to do that? But surely, we can't afford to do this on a working day?!

I dare you.

You know what? I think not only can we, we should. You should. I dare you to do it – but do it with a twist.

I invite you to spend forty-five minutes this week studying, admiring and talking with one aspect of what you do.

Experience it, learn from it – and if you feel that it could be any better, try to make it so.

We're not talking big changes – we're talking tweaks. Not overhauls. Rome wasn't sculpted in a day.

Let's break it down.

Step 1: decide on what you want to focus on. It could be the cover of your brochure. The first email you send to a parent when they enquire. The experience a student gets when they first talk to you. The way you label folders. Or even your ringtone.

Step 2: get into the zone. Sit in the sun. Or find a quiet corner. Listen to the birds. Or the music that gets you going. Silence notifications. Hide from the world. No excuses.

Step 3: study it. Look at it. Read it. Listen to it. Experience it. If you are looking at some marketing or comms piece, imagine the effect it has on that student or parent. If you are looking at something that you use, think about the effect it has on you.

Step 4: tweak it. If you feel it could be slightly better, change it. Try different versions. Just remember, it's a tweak, not an overhaul.

Step 5: admire it. Be proud of it. You've just made something you do even better.
